About SeeBeyondBorders Ireland

With close connections developing between Cambodia and Ireland throughout much of SeeBeyondBorders’ history, SeeBeyondBorders Ireland (SBBI) was first established in 2017, receiving full charity registration status in 2020. SeeBeyondBorders Ireland has been the fastest growing alliance country and a member of Dóchas, developing close ties between Cambodia and the island of Ireland.

Chair Catherine Byrne joined the board and was appointed Chair in 2023. Catherine brings a huge amount of experience in development and education and previously worked as Deputy General Secretary of the INTO, and has served on boards such as Oxfam and VSO.

Maeve Corish

Maeve Corish



Vice Chair Maeve Corish joined the Board in 2020 as a founding Director and served as Chair from January 2021 to June 2023. She is a former principal of DPETNS and has been to Cambodia several times.

Tom Costello

om Costello joined the Board in 2020 as a founding Director. Tom was a member of the Charities Regulatory Authority and has served on boards including the Government Advisory Council and as Chair of the Children’s Rights Alliance.

Marie Moreau

Marie Moreau



Marie Moreau joined the Board in 2021. Marie is a retired primary school principal in Ireland, she taught in Lesotho. She took part in the SeeBeyondBorders Teacher Programme in 2020 and Connect programme in Cambodia in 2023.

Aideen O’Byrne

Aideen O’Byrne



Aideen O’Byrne joined the Board in 2021 and has spent much of her life living in Asia before recently returning to Ireland. Aideen is passionate about education and has been an active philanthropist and volunteer.

Gemma Daly

Gemma Daly



Gemma Daly joined the Board in 2022. Gemma spent twenty years providing external audit services to Irish and multinational companies. She has held a number of Board positions and is a Fellow of Chartered Accountants Ireland.

Helen Williams

Helen Williams



Helen Williams joined the Board in 2022. Helen started her career as a second level teacher and has over 25 years’ experience as a development consultant on donor-funded programmes.

Geraldine is a Chartered Accountant who spent most of her professional career with PricewaterhouseCoopers in Dublin, Geraldine has volunteered with SBBI since Summer 2021 as Finance and Administration Manager.

Gary has over 20 years experience working with Development NGO’s including two overseas assignments. His work included project management, public relations, and securing project funding from institutional funders. Gary has been volunteering with SBBI since mid-2022.

Máire has over 20 years experience working as a school leader and was the National Deputy Director of the Irish Centre for School Leadership. Máire has been a volunteer for SBB Ireland since 2022 and has visited multiple times.
